2001年7月至2002年9月在中科院水生生物研究所先后任助理研究员和副研究员；2002年1月至6月在阿伯丁大学（University of Aberdeen）做访问研究；2002年10月至2003年10月在阿伯丁大学做博士后研究；2004年3月至2005年2月在美国新墨西哥大学（University of New Mexico）做博士后研究；2005年3月至2008年10月在美国宾夕法尼亚大学（University of Pennsylvania）做博士后研究；2008年11月至2011年2月在宾夕法尼亚大学任研究助理（Research Associate）；2011年3月受聘为中国科学院水生生物研究所研究员，同年入选中共中央组织部“青年”和中国科学院“百人计划”。
