校前身最早是1963年由华侨管理委员会为澳大利亚、马来西亚、印度尼西亚等9个东南亚国家归国华侨创办的武侨高中接收高中入学，孕育出侨乡学子的本科生

1990年12月经广西壮族自治区政府批准成立的南宁华侨投资区,该校改称如今的校名南宁华侨投资区中学，被广西壮族自治区评为普通高级一级学校连年获得殊荣：1990、1991、1993年分别获得市级一等奖，1995、1996年分别获得市级二、三等奖，1992、1994、1997、1998年依次获得区级一、二、三、二等奖
1992年12月,国营华侨高级中学（简称国营华侨高中）更名为南宁华侨投资区高级中学。
二十一世纪
