杨元元、女，博士、西南大学电子信息工程学院教授、、IEEE Fellow，纽约州立大学石溪分校电子与计算机工程系任研究生部主任、美国纽约州无线与信息技术中心通信与设备部主任。
近年来主要在无线传感器网络、光网络、数据中心网络、移动计算、分布式及并行计算等领域开展研究，至今已经发表了270 多篇学术论文，其中超过100 篇期刊文章和170篇会议文章，其中大部分是IEEE Transactions on Computers，IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems，IEEE Transactions on Communications，IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking 等顶级期刊和 IEEE INFOCOM，IEEE IPDPS、IEEE 质量、IEEE WCNC等国际顶级会议，有超过70 篇文章以她为第一作者，论文被引用3100多次。获得9项美国专利，1项欧洲专利和1项中国专利奖；主持承担来自美国国家自然科学基金、美国陆军研究办公室等研究项目近20项，经费300多万美元。2000年获国际并行与分布式系统会议最佳论文奖；2004年获IEEE国际并行与分布式处理年会最佳论文奖；2009年获IEEE Fellow，2009年12月入选。
