中共党员。现兼任日本帝京科学大学动物科学系客座教授、福建农林大学动物科学院兼职教授、亚洲兽医解剖学会副理事长、中国畜牧兽医学会动物解剖学与组织胚胎学分会常务理事兼秘书长、解剖学报编委等。
1989年毕业于北京农业大学，获硕士学位；
1999年毕业于名古屋市大学，获博士学位；
2001—2003年从事日本学术振兴会博士后研究。
1984年7月参加工作，
1989年7月起至今在中国农业大学动物医学院历任助教（1989.7-1990.11）、讲师（1990.12-1993.11）、副教授（1993.12-2001.8）和教授、博士生导师（2001.9--）。
主要贡献
主编教材4部。指导30名博士和硕士研究生。主讲6门本科生和研究生课。
近年来主持10多项国家和省部级课题，发表学术论著近百篇（部），有14篇论文被SCI收录。

指导本科生获10项国家大学生创新性试验计划，毕业论文3次荣获学校百篇优秀论文奖。
2021年9月，入选全国教材建设先进个人奖励名单。
陈耀星教授长期专心于专业基础课“动物解剖学”的教学与科研工作，爱岗敬业，教书育人，获国务院政府特殊津贴、北京市教学名师、宝钢优秀教师等称号。重视教材研究与编写，针对课程特点，改革以问题为核心和立体化多媒体的教材编写新模式；把学科的新发展及时转化为教材内容，保证教材的先进性；切实把握教材内容的深度、广度和新度，打造精品教材，以适应创新型人才培养的教学需求，解决解剖学课程抽象、枯燥、难学的问题，激发学生的学习兴趣和创新思维，助力教学质量的提升。近年来主编或副主编了《畜禽解剖学》等 12 部国家级规划教材和教学参考书，获中国出版政府奖图书奖、全国农业教育优秀教材奖、北京市精品教材奖和全国高校优秀著作奖等。优质教材促进课程建设，主讲“动物解剖学”课程被评为国家级一流本科课程、精品资源共享课、精品课程和北京高校优质本科课程、北京市教学成果二等奖，被学生评价为“最喜爱的课程”，同行评价为“全国同类课程的样板”。
