刘家寿，男，1963年出生，博士，中国科学院水生生物研究所研究员，博士生导师，国家淡水渔业工程技术研究中心（武汉）副主任；湖北省有突出贡献的中青年专家，国务院政府特殊津贴专家。中国生态学会淡水生态学专业委员会副主任委员、中国鱼类学会理事、国家（水产）标准化委员会委员、湖北省海洋湖沼学会理事；英国水产学会中国国家代表；《Reviews in Aquaculture》《湖泊科学》等刊物的编委。
主持国家“九五”“十一五”“十二五”科技支撑计划（科技攻关计划）专题和课题、国家自然科学基金委员会面上项目、国际自然基金会项目、亚洲水产学会项目、联合国粮农组织项目、亚太地区水产养殖中心网络项目等多项研究任务。承担中国科学院科技服务网络计划项目和国家科技支撑计划课题等。研究方向包括渔业生态学和大水面增养殖学。研究工作主要集中在大水面生态渔业机理、食物网关系、鱼类群落结构调控与水生生物资源利用及水环境保护的关系等方面。同时致力于探讨池塘生态养殖、稻渔综合种养等机理研究。
1988年获华中农业大学硕士学位。
1992.10-1993.10在丹麦淡水中心做访问学者。
1997年获中国科学院水生生物研究所博士学位。
2000年受聘为研究员。
刘家寿曾主持国家“九五”、“十一五”、“十二五”科技支撑计划（科技攻关计划）专题和课题、国家自然科学基金委员会面上项目、国际自然基金会项目、亚洲水产学会项目、联合国粮食及农业组织项目、亚太地区水产养殖中心网络项目等多项研究任务，承担中国科学院科技服务网络计划项目和国家科技支撑计划课题等。他主要从事渔业生态学和湖泊增养殖学研究，在湖泊多种群调控机理、生物操控、组合增殖放流技术、湖泊渔业资源合理利用和环境优化技术原理等方面取得系列研究成果，创新大水面生态增养殖技术，建立可持续的高效湖泊渔业模式。此外，他还致力于探讨池塘绿色高效养殖、稻渔综合种养等机理研究。
在鱼类生物能量学研究方面：系统研究了食鱼性鱼类的生物能量学机制；提出了鱼类摄食、生长的“最适温度平台”概念；发现了乌鳢生长－体重关系中体重指数随体重增加而减少的规律，否定了Jobling提出的鱼类生长－体重关系中体重指数恒定的假设；发现鱼体生化组成和能值与干物质的相关方式在不同条件下不一致，对鱼类能量学研究中普遍采用的以鱼体干物质含量（或水分）预测鱼体能值和生化组成的方法提出了反证。在鱼类繁殖生物学方面：对胭脂鱼的繁殖生物学、人工繁殖等进行了全面研究，实现了人工控制条件下胭脂鱼的全人工繁殖。在环境生态学研究方面：以湖北浮桥河水库环境为背景，研究了不同渔业方式、人居环境变化对水质的影响，提出了以生物操纵为主的水质调控措施。在渔业生态学研究方面：应用鳜鱼生物能量学模型准确预测了网箱养鳜对饵料鱼的需要量，从而确定饵料鱼的配套养殖规模，解决了网箱养殖生产中长期存在的饵料鱼配套养殖问题。提出了水体对网箱养鱼的承载力动态模型。在银鱼资源学方面：探讨了影响水库银鱼种群数量变动的主要因子，提出了银鱼可持续发展的技术措施。已发表论文50余篇，出版著作1部，获省部级科技进步奖3次。
