苏三是一位祖籍河南省的文化学者，拥有两个不同领域的研究生学历。他毕业于河南大学外语系英美文学专业，并在中国人民大学经济系获得了研究生学历。在不同院校为师十年后，他辞职进入外企。2002年，苏三开始了独立学者生涯，先后出版了多本著作，包括《罗马有多远》《历史也疯狂》《难以置信》和《汉字起源新解》。2021年，他出版了《发现文明》。
洛阳市人，现居北京。上世纪八十年代毕业于河南师范大学外语系英美文学专业，九十年代在中国人民大学经济系研究生班结业，21世纪又在中国人民大学研究生班学习工业色彩设计。曾经在不同院校为师十年，后下海进入外企。
2002年辞职回家读书，开始专注于全球文明起源研究。曾因“破译飓风系列”而引起国内外文化界轰动。2015年开始转向研究大文明发展，最终于2017年始创建宏观文明学（又名文明学）。
从小体弱多病，爱读书。20世纪在国外旅游尚未兴起时即走马观花到二十多个国家、地区旅行，包括埃及、以色列，加之西方文化教育背景，之后养成了明显有别于一般中国学人的分析视野以及思维习惯。
在20世纪末曾出版过三本杂文集。二OO四年起先后出版了"破译飓风系列"之《三星堆文化大猜想》《向东向东，再向东》《历史也疯狂》《锁定红海》《难以置信》《罗马有多远》《谈天说地》《汉字起源新解》等系列作品。影响力比较大的是《向东向东，再向东》《汉字起源新解》，这两本著作分别获得香港凤凰卫视的梁冬、何亮亮的专门节目推介。因为文明起源领域的研究曾经获得数个单位的“年度人物”表彰。此外还有《我为碟狂》《偏执批判》等一些网络评论结集。
2014年后主要出版著作为《文明大趋势》《新文明简史》及2021年春天面世的《发现文明》，明显转向一般文明规律趋势性研究。尤其是《发现文明》展示了其创立的文明学或宏观文明学的主要框架性思考。
2018年开始，有一系列围绕其文明学研究的视频，主要有80集《发现文明》以及《西出阳关有故人》等。
《向东向东，再向东》《汉字起源新解》《发现文明》（书籍与视频同名）。《汉字起源新解》被何亮亮解读，“如果这本书的立论能够成立的话，那么中华文明，还有汉字起源的历史，都要全部重写。 ”
该作家主要著作为“破译飓风系列”，为2003-2010年之间出版的8本书籍构，重新演绎解释《旧约圣经》与中国上古关系的，全面论述了中国文化与世界文明子宫——中东——等地之间的神秘文化联系。在学术上备受争议，但由于其文化探索与新兴的脱氧核糖核酸生物技术结论的暗合，获得越来越高的关注与支持。
同时，该人的西方文化教育背景，另加其丰富的社会经历，使其具有天然的不同于单一文化背景下人们的文化观与世界观，一些随笔与批评具有独特的尖锐批评力，在历史与文化方面具有独到的见解。
该人为2004年新浪“年度文化人物”之一；2006年中国《商报》“年度风云人物”之一，在“和平传媒”（台湾 peace media）获2016年年度人物，海外媒体认为她是最具有颠覆性的考古学者。她自己认为她是个文化呼吁者，希望中国人打开眼界，认识世界，认识自我。
其后期著作偏于严肃学术，文明学被她自己认为是其最大成就。
苏三是中原地区21世纪全球文明同源研究（西来说）与人类文明发展规律研究（文明学）两个领域的创建者与领军人物。
社会评价
日本学习院大学东洋文化研究所研究员王瑞来一直关注苏三的学说。在他看来，“她的研究，尽管有不少值得商之处。但也不乏新见，不应漠视。”
上海交通大学科学系主任江晓原曾给苏三的书做过序。对后者的观点，他的评价很审慎，“在‘前时空旅行’时代，任何历史都只能是后人建构起来的。在曾被想象为绝对“客观”的科学也被认为可能有社会建构成分的今天，认识到历史是社会构建的，不再那么困难，“这样一来，无论是‘主流历史学共同体’中的大权威，还是‘民历’，都是在构建各自心目中的历史，苏三当然也可以构建她心目中的历史。她构建得好不好，构建的方法对不对，这当然可以见仁见智，苏三也从来不拒绝善意的批评。”
而在中国社会科学院考古研究所研究员许宏看来，苏三的研究价值在于“文化呼吁”特性，“作为一位学术界以外的学者，苏三女士注定是提供思想的，通过证据来肯定或否定其推断和假说，那应是专业学者的事。”他在文章中写道。
